I'm Playing Some Golf This Weekend....

That's right, the golf course which I am a member at is opening for business for `06 and you know who will be there to start the season off right by swinging like a total hacker (gotta get the Winter out of me). Here's a few facts about my golf game, incase you care.

I've been playing since age 8, that's 19 years folks!
Current Handicap: 5, Lowest ever: 4
Lowest Score: 71 (-1) at my home course
Highest Score: don't ask (Kiawah Island Ocean Course, South Carolina, USA)

My Clubs (currently, but will be changing slightly as we start the year):
Driver: Cobra 440SZ - Stiff Stock Graphite Shaft (either replacing shaft or entire driver this year)
3-Wood: Cobra 14degree King Cobra - Stiff Steel Shaft
Hybrid: Taylor Made Rescue 2: 16 degrees
Irons: Toski T-54 blades 3-PW - S300 True Temper Steel Shafts
Wedges: Cleveland 588 56 and 60 (i've worn the grooves off the 56, it's getting replaced)
Putter: Zebra Black (always looking for a new putter, havent found one in 2 years of trying)
Bag: Sun Mountain Avalanche - Carry Bag

That's it for the moment. The wedge is my #1 priority, but i'm open to a driver, putter, and 3-wood. My irons are gorgeous muscle back blades which make them a little more difficult to hit but I come away feeling pure when i'm on. I could probably shave a stroke by switching irons but i'm a bit of a purist for feel and aesthetics right now.

Was pretty sketchy with the hybrid last year -- I tend to miss that club with a snap hook if i'm anywhere closer to the toe of the club -- which does not a happy Toast make.

On the flip side: poker.
I haven't played too much lately as I've been working for the man every night and day. I'm also sick with the common cold which rarely happens to me. The hands I have played have been really solid though. I'm planning to schedule a tournament with Titan Poker, possibly with a goal of donating funds toward sending a poker blogger to the world series (or a satellite of it) so we'll see. I'm talking to my Titan rep about it.

In the meantime, go sign up at Titan Poker to get their massive deposit bonus and be ready for the tournament.

Golf on my mind... poker's all i got...

Lately, i've been hitting the digital felt after work every day, but i'm really itching to hit the greens. Unfortunately, we're still too cold up here for me to be out there -- plus my golf club isn't open yet.

NoSkillz, Dave, all you other regular readers (who don't comment like those two), what do you think about having a private little poker game sometime soon? Nothing serious for stakes but just a reason to get together and chat.

Oh, and in the meantime, check out Titan Poker... it's got my poker room seal of approval... and i'm a money-whore so that's saying a lot.

The Party's over, bitch.

Well, I cashed out my Party dollars as I'm getting really tired of not getting any bonuses or rakeback. Greedy bastards. I had a great deal going with Eurobet when the networks were together and now it's gone.

Posted a thread on 2+2 asking for input on good poker rooms other than Party and got a PM from a respected member. I was skeptical at his recommendation, but gave it a try (he's a poker stud -- i'm NOTHING compared to this guy) and of course he's right.

The site is right here - join me for the hunt - i've been playing almost every night. Email justtoast at gmail dot com for my screen name there.

Well it's been a weird week...

This week has been... different. I had a water problem with my bathroom upstairs and had to have my friend come by and fix the damn thing. Course that means ripping out a wall, and then having to re-tile the whole damn shower but it turns out great as seen here (ignore the walls and light fixture -- they're being replaced)

He's a freaking genius with this stuff and i'm useless as a third tit when it comes to handyman crap. Wonder if he'd take a poker lesson instead of a cheque from me. Actually, my insurance co is chatting with me so hopefully they dont screw me over -- technically its covered I believe.

Anyways, my second job's project was stressing me out but I got through that. There's nothing like pulling your hair out over a problem for a week and a half straight of 6pm-12pm + 10am-5pm on weekends to fix a problem. That's called stress and it blows.

In the meantime, i'll leave you with a photo of my cat Zoe who is currently laying on a blanket under my desk. She's a damn fine cat (fantasic personality -- plays fetch with me and everything) but sheds like a bastard. She's also a bit fat but so am I so I can't throw stones.

Toast Talks Turkey

Hi, I'm Toast. Not only in name this time...

Seeing the comments from my last thread, I have to respond. Yes, it kills me that I cannot go and kick the living shit out of Presto and Harry with NoSkillz as a teammate on a bunch of top-notch florida courses. We're a hell of a team as I'm usually hot and cold and NoSkillz likes to set his tone early and is good at maintaining whatever he started with. I'm probably more upset about not being able to join the group than I am not being able to go play good golf courses, honestly. If y'all didn't know, Harry, NoSkillz, Presto and Myself are all considerably younger than the rest of the people we play golf with every Sunday so there's a common bond there (us against the old guys). We also don't pussy out and play anything but the tips on golf courses either -- though NoSkillz likes to complain about that sometimes. Personally I'm of the opinion that I'd rather take my asskicking from Pete Dye or Rees Jones and LIKE IT. Sorta like those people who are into hard spankings / whipping as a sexual thing, cept I have no interest in real pain except by golf designers I suppose.

The fact of the matter is, I gave this company my word that I would take care of them through their initial product launch (End of May). If it were a faceless large entity and I were just 'another employee' it would have been easier for me to go against them, but in this case the company left their old technology company to work with me. I have a small active interest in them, and I'm all they have. Replacing me in terms of a project like this (sorry I'm under non-disclosure can't get into detail too much) is difficult to do in a short frame of time and if i were on a golf course out of country... they'd be dead. I mean DEAD. So, no matter what it takes I'm not going to let them down. And this golf trip is certainly a sacrifice. If they go broke in the next 6 months i'll be plenty pissed off.

Note that this is not my 'main' job. My main job is great. Right now i'm sitting at home on my notebook while a couple of workers are gutting my bathroom (doing some minor renovations) and re-tiling it. I can work for the company from here if I need to... and it changes nothing for them really. Telecommuting is way better than driving to work and listening to phones around me all day. Unfortunately I still mostly have to do that 4/5 days a week. Mental note, figure out how to work from home every day again.

So, to NoSkillz, Harry, Presto and my faithful readers (all 2 of you)... sorry for killing the usual game guys. I'll have to leave the trip reporting to NoSkillz over at now on the tee. Good post about golf design websites btw dude.

The dollars and cents of last month...

Well, I've either been running well in cards or I found a style that works for me... and works damn well.

Since I cashed the majority of my money from Party back on Feb 11 (leaving $500 or so), I've made $617 in profit playing 100NL and 50NL. Thats a very small amount of hands so I've got to figure its a combination of the two things making me $$. That is not to say I haven't taken beats though. Getting caught for 1.5 buyins when the opponent hits a 2 outer on the river is included here :)

Anyways, I have a bit of home improvement to do around here, so I cashed out the $617 and am currently downloading it into my bank account as we speak.

I think keeping my bankroll tiny will keep me away from the tables... god knows I don't have time for it right now.

My second "job" work is going to prevent me from going on a kickass golf trip with the boys in April, which pisses me off, but i'll live since I can play at my club by then. Still, playing 4 days crammed full of florida top notch golf courses with Harry, NoSkillz and Presto would do me good right now.... *sigh*... I better make some good money off this damn thing or i'm going to be upset.

And to close, a joke...

Guy walks into a psychiatrists office wearing nothing but a pair of saran wrap underwear.
Shrink says: "Well, I can clearly see your nuts"
